|03:46 pm - Oops|
I haven't answered any of my LJ comments for a couple of days and I now have about 40. That's more than I can handle arrgh. I only have the one brain.
So I've just stopped posting to LJ comms (especially BSH). There's too much Booshslash about at the moment, anyway. It's a glut. I'm still writing fic, and posting it here to my own journal, but nowhere else.
Only about three people ever comment here, so I'm kind of safe.
Although I just got a really, really sweet comment on LJ to part 3 of Truly, Madly, Fishy - that they'd just discovered The Boosh, and mine was the first Booshfic they'd ever read. I feel so amazingly honoured when people say that.
(Edit: I just realised I've written/posted SIX(!) fics in the last week and a bit! That's obviously why I haven't had time to keep up with comments.
Fossil Funtime, Oblivious Crimping, Like Putting On A Glove, Completely Normal, one anon to the Boosh kink meme, and one I'm about to post on blue_boosh (I suppose I really should post there, since it's a prompt fic, damn).
Okay, now I understand. Duh! But on the other hand, go me!)
I left you a comment there, before you went to my LJ, before I ever wrote Boosh I think, or at least very close to it. On the site, not the comm. I didn't go back to check because I thought they'd email replies, but they hadn't, I went now and you responded to it. I thought maybe that's what you were talking about. My bad.
I deleted my last response as well, as you didn't seem to want your other name on IJ. But thanks for leaving that nice response on the BSH archive site! That was great of you. *waves*
I hope some of my recent flocked fics haven't put you off friending me. Some of them have been of dubious taste. Hmmm.
No, I was talking about a comment I got just yesterday on LJ. Someone said Truly, Madly, Fishy was the first ever Booshfic they read. I think this is the third time I've been told this now. It always amazes me. I mean, there are so many other fics out there. Am I on some list or something? I've tried searching it myself (LOL vanity) but it doesn't come up that quickly or anything. Like on page 6 if you google 'Howard/Old Gregg Boosh'.
Oh, I'm fine with dubious taste. I'm perfectly okay with it :) I had this problem in recent days where I'm completely misunderstood when I try to say things.
I think people who don't often read Boosh, or never have before, don't really want to start on Howard/Vince too much. They're looking for something else, maybe more unique. They find Gregg. They find the *archive*, and on it look for something that doesn't have a thousand hits (like the main OTP of this fandom), but maybe a shorter reading list. Again, Gregg.
I didn't get Howard/Vince for ages. I used to read it fine, and thought - well, all very nice. But just - no. Especially most of the fics had Howard and Vince be gay since forever, but mysteriously not hook up until their thirties. Then, suddenly they 'saw each other for the first time' and shagged like bunnies. I mean, what? So they were hormonal gay teenagers together, as close as two peas in a pod, and they never did anything? Ever? Not even thought about it? That always used to spoil it a bit for me.
Also, Howard/Old Gregg is the real canon sexual relationship in the second series, not Howard/Vince, just as Howard/Mrs Gideon is the sexual relationship in the first (although totally unrequited). So, of course, they were the first two pairings I wrote.
I see it more like that. That they're the MORE obvious choices, not the less.
Although, on the other hand, your Old Gregg/The Moon - genius!
Good I haven't scared you off with my ickiness either.
I can rant the pros and cons of Howard/Vince, but, eh, you know, I'm tired.
Gregg/Howard does indeed carry more sexual canon weight, but despite the proposal and all, still somehow less marital weight ;) I'm with you on the "likeable pairing to write" though.
Gregg/Moon- I just wanted someone to love poor Ol' Gregg! Howard is so... shallow. And you know, terrified ;) But the Moon, now, there's a logical conclusion. In a fandom like that, anyway.
And I'm not easily scared. I say things like "omg your head is a creepy place!" but, they're mostly just... drama queening :) And compliments!
Thank you, thank you. We like Giles.
